The 1st of October is Tokyo Citizen’s Day (都民の日, tomin no hi), on which many public parks, museums, galleries and other facilities offer free entry. Though not a public holiday, when it falls on a weekday most public school children have the day off. With a wide range of things to do for free, it’s a great opportunity for a family day out.
The following is a list of venues which offer free entry on Citizen’s Day. Please note that in 2017, Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum and the Edo-Tokyo Museum will be closed on Tokyo Citizen’s Day.
