The 1st of October is Tokyo Citizen’s Day (都民の日, tomin no hi), on which many public parks, museums, galleries and other facilities offer free entry. Though not a public holiday, when it falls on a weekday most public school children have the day off. With a wide range of things to do for free, it’s a great opportunity for a family day out.
The following is a list of venues which offer free entry on Citizen’s Day. Additionally, there will be special Citizen’s Day events taking place at Yumenoshima Tropical Greenhouse Dome, Tokyo Fire Museum, Tokyo Waterworks Historical Museum, Tokyo Water Science Museum, Okutama Mizu-to-Midori-no-Fureaikan and Tokyo Sewerage System “Rainbow”.
