World Heritage Sites

Japan has many World Heritage Sites ranging from places of outstanding natural beauty to important historical and cultural assets. Among the most famous and popular sites on the list for tourists are Kyoto’s Golden Pavilion, Nikko’s shrines and temples, Himeji Castle and Mt. Fuji.

The most recent additions to Japan’s World Heritage list are the Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining (15 July 2015).
